Avaya is an American multinational tech company that specializes in communications services. Its key product, Avaya OneCloud, offers cloud communications and workstream collaboration solutions. In 1995, Lucent Technologies branched out from the communications firm AT&T. Five years later, its Business Systems arm spun off and became Avaya, Inc. The new company focused on finding communications solutions for business customers. It initially produced office switchboards and desk phones from its headquarters in Durham, North Carolina. Since 2001, Avaya has acquired and sold several companies. The company knew that it had to quickly adapt to the change of technology and consumer demands. It sought to learn and discover from various tech acquisitions. The companies it acquired and sold notably include VPNet Technologies, VISTA Information Technologies, Spectel, NimCat Networks, Tenovis, Quintus, RouteScience, Agile Software NZ Limited, Aurix Radvision, Konftel, Sipera, and Esnatech. Although Avaya had been at the forefront of innovation, the company still faced struggles. Silver Lake and TPG Capital acquired Avaya in 2007, turning it into a privately held company. The acquisition significantly boosted Avaya’s market strategy and ingenuity. In 2008, it introduced Speech to Text technology, which pushed it further at the forefront of tech and communications globally. A year later, it launched the communications managing system, Avaya Aura. In 2019, it partnered with RingCentral – a provider of cloud-based phone systems to businesses. Together, they introduced Avaya Cloud Office, a unified communications as a service solution (UCaaS). Avaya began trading in the New York Stock Exchange on October 2, 2000, with the symbol AVYA. The 2007 acquisition kept Avaya from trading on the NYSE, until it returned in 2017 after its debt restructuring.
With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Avaya User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
