Founded by Robert Bosch in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1886, Bosch comprises four operational areas: mobility solutions, industrial technology, consumer goods, and energy and building technology. In their early years, the company earned its name and place in the market due to two key inventions, the magneto automobile ignition and the spark plug. Bosch then used both inventions to create a high-voltage magneto ignition system in 1902, releasing groundbreaking technology to the market. By 1906 the company had already produced and sold over 100.000 units of this new technology. The company expanded into injection pumps, car radios, and power drills in 1926. Later in 1933, the company entered a dark chapter in its story, working with armaments, accessories for German aircraft, and the electrical equipment used in tanks. After the death of Robert Bosch in 1942, the company retained normal operations. Then, with the foundation of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, a charitable institution, the company heavily changed its focus to sustainability and further improvements in its four operational sectors in 1964. Robert Bosch Stiftung is a privately owned institution. The institution owns 92% of the company’s shares and is responsible for all decisions. After investing most profits back into development, the rest is invested in sustainability and charity projects. Bosch acquired several companies to optimize their production and quality. In 1987 they purchased Telenorma and renamed Bosch Telecom GmbH in 1994. To expand their automation segment, they acquired Mannesmann Rexroth AG in 2001 and then renamed it Bosch Rexroth AG. To improve their audio and communication products, the company acquired Telex Communications and Electro-Voice in 2006. Today, the company focuses heavily on sustainable energy, automation systems, power tools, IoT solutions, and automobile technology.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Bosch User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
