Brother Industries Ltd, known largely for its sewing machines and multi-function printers today, is an electrical equipment company founded in Nagoya, Japan. They have since been committed on manufacturing electronics such as label and multi-function printers, typewriters, scanners and are widely known for developing office technology.  First established by Kanekichi Yasui as Yasui Sewing Machine Co. in 1908, it started out by providing repairs and parts for sewing machines. In 1928, the company developed a Chain-Stitch sewing machine made for the production of straw hats which became popular for its durability compared to German machines at the time. By 1932, they introduced the first home sewing machine and have then started exporting in 1947. In an effort to diversify their products, they started manufacturing knitting machines, home electrical appliances and other electronics. They have also established a US marketing subsidiary, Brother International Corporation, which helped them to establish their European sales operations in 1958 to guide their overseas expansion. In an effort to solidify the company, they changed their corporate name to Brother Industries, Ltd in 1962. During the same period, the company was also listed in the Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya stock exchanges. This also signaled their move towards venturing into other business fields which saw them entering the printer market. In 1968, the company had acquired an established British sewing machine brand which then helped Brother establish itself in the UK. The 70s and 80s saw Brother produce the world’s first high-speed dot-matrix printer and first electronic typewriter. The company further developed their products into the 90s and 2000s. In 2008, Brother Industries celebrated their 100th year in the technological solutions business further cementing their place while staying true to the company’s mission “At Your Side” for more than a century.  With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Brother User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
