Chamberlain Group is a privately held company that designs and engineers residential garage door openers, gate entry systems, and commercial door openers. It is the parent organization to Controlled Products Systems Group, ranked as the biggest wholesale distributor of perimeter access control products in 2021. With headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, the corporation is also the parent company to LiftMaster, Merlin, and Grifco. Some of the company’s most prominent products encompass wall mount battery backup garage door openers, surveillance cameras with decorative covers, and motors with travel modules. The company was founded in 1954 to offer innovative garage door openers as Chamberlain Manufacturing. It acquired Chamberlain Group in 1983 to become its sole owner by assimilating the firm into its operations. As a result of the expansion, the organization became Chamberlain Group, Inc. and expanded its operations into manufacturing commercial and residential door openers, access control products, and remote gate operators. The company’s success is attributed to its introduction of the first-ever wireless and keyless entry system. This innovation made Chamberlain Group a significant player in the garage door industry. Nevertheless, the company still faced competition from other organizations. To expand its market share, the group acquired Gasselschaft of Germany and Wecla of France, two significant graphics design operating systems manufacturers, in 1994. As a result, the firm entered the European market, expanding its customer base. To further bolster its dominance in the industry, Chamberlain acquired Link Door Controls, a prominent manufacturer of commercial door operators, in 1995. It later purchased Sentex of Chatsworth, a telephone entry systems developer, in 1997.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Chamberlain User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
