Craftsman is an American brand of hand tools, lawn and garden equipment, and workwear. The company has three tiers of pricing for its products. Craftsman Professional or Craftsman Industrial serves the high-end market, Craftsman appeals to the mid-level buyer, and Evolv targets the low-end customer. Craftsman, currently owned by industrial equipment manufacturer Stanley Black & Decker, began as the hardware division for Sears, the American chain of department stores. In the beginning, it supplied hand tools to local farmers under the management of Arthur Burrows. Around the same time, the automobile industry in America was booming, prompting the brand to create new tools to meet the needs of car mechanics. Craftsman wrenches and ratchets stood out because of their chrome-plated appearance. They were much more popular since they could easily be cleaned and polished to maintain their shiny, attractive look. The company realized astronomical success in the 1940s when its tools were the standard for aircraft schools, industrial colleges, and airplane plants. Craftsman tools were a major input in large construction projects in the US, such as the Levitt & Sons housing construction project in 1952. The company’s lawnmowers were also a significant source of its revenue from the 1960s to the early 2000s. In 2001, Craftsman was ranked number 1 in the most high-quality American brands according to the Harris Poll Equitrend survey. In 2017, American industrial toolmaker Stanley Black & Decker purchased the Craftsman brand from Sears at $900 million. This was shortly after the Craftsman’s  Flex Claw Hammer won gold at the Edison awards for innovation.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Craftsman User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
