Denon is a Japanese electronics company that specializes in producing digital audio technology. Some of its products include professional and consumer home cinema and audio equipment including A/V receivers, DVD players, tuners and wireless music systems. Founded by Frederick Whitney Horn in 1910, Denon was initially known as Nippon Denki Onkyō Kabushikigaisha. It started out by manufacturing single-sided disc records and gramophones. In 1912, the company became a part of Japan-US Recorders Manufacturing which eventually became Japan Columbia Recorders in 1928. They renamed again in 1946 to Nippon Columbia and after a year, did a merger with Japan Denki Onkyo thus forming the current name of the company – Denon. With Denon making the first professional disc recorder, it was even used to record the Hirohito surrender broadcast in 1945. Denon continued to develop products that would cater to different consumers such as launching a professional-use tape recorder for the broadcast industry in 1953 and stereo records in 1958.  During the 60s, the company also entered the electronic piano market and launched the Elepian series. Denon did not stop and continued to expand their product range by developing audio cassette tapes, hi-fi audio components, including turntables, amplifiers and in 1972 – released the first 8 channel digital recorder. Through the 80s to 90s, the company still focused in releasing fresh audio equipment such as CD players and the first THX-EX home theater system which produced a fuller surround sound. The 2000s saw the company releasing new amplifiers and even a headphone line in 2012 categorized into different lifestyles groups. The company merged with Marantz in 2002 to form D&M Holdings. Eventually, in March 2017, Sound United LLC completed the acquisition of D+M Holdings.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Denon User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
