The brand called Digital Security Controls or DSC is an innovator of alarm monitoring products and self-contained wireless panels. Today, its headquarters are in Ontario, Canada, and it distributes security alarm systems worldwide. It was first established in 1979, with its first products being the small security pads and microprocessor-based alarm panels. These products set new standards for performance, convenience, and ease of use in the alarm system industry. In 1990, DSC bought Sur-Gard. It was a competitor that specialized in producing central station monitoring equipment. This helped the company improve its central station monitoring products and reach further into the security industry. Eight years after, DSC also acquired Bentel, an Italian security product manufacturer. Despite purchasing the two other security companies, DSC kept their brands alive. Then, in 2002, Tyco International acquired the DSC Group. This acquisition put DSC, Sur-Gard, and Bentel under Tyco Fire & Security as individual brands. Five years later, Tyco separated into three companies. DSC moved under the new Tyco International banner. Despite becoming a subsidiary of Tyco, DSC continued to innovate in the superior security monitoring industries and developed more wireless security products. In the 21st century, it also reached into internet security communications. Currently, the company has wireless keypads, home security, security pads, motion, flood, carbon dioxide, and smoke detectors. It also produces neo control panels, neo communications, wired home security, wireless home security, wireless life safety sensors, and business security. Despite staying low-key in the main market and business media outlets, DSC’s innovations have made it an expert and leader in security. It has facilities in Italy and more in Canada today.
