Founded in 1986, Edimax is a Taiwanese provider of data networking products as well as telephone and telegraph apparatus. Its technological strategy is based on the design, development, manufacture, and commerce of a broad array of networking solutions. In this regard, it offers wireless solutions, xDSL routers, ethernet switches, PoE solutions, print servers, powerline solutions, load balancer solutions, network cameras, load balancer solutions, professional surveillance cameras, VoIP solutions, media converters, KVM switches, home entertainment integration solutions as well as other customer-oriented networking applications. The organization also sells a high-performance Edimax Pro range of enterprise solutions. Edimax was founded with the primary goal of offering network equipment engineering and manufacturing. Initially only based in Taiwan, the company took time to develop subdivisions across the globe and managed to conduct business with the Japanese government in 2005 by providing a Kansai Electric Power Smart Meter Module, a development that launched it to global success. The organization received ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 certifications in 2014, causing it to be ranked among the 35 most valuable international Taiwanese brands in the same year. In 2010, reports determined that Edimax was planning to acquire a 44.66% stake in Comtrend, a wireless networking and device manufacturer. The acquisition was conducted through a stock swap and cash investment. In this regard, Edimax issued 9.99 million new shares in exchange for 16.38 million Comtrend shares with an additional purchase of 1.92 million shares. Edimax is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and has been operating since 2001.
