Deriving its name from an iron’s tip, Hotpoint is a British company most known for its household appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers and refrigerators. Formerly known as Hotpoint Electric Heating Company, the company was founded by Earl Richardson in 1911. One of Hotpoint’s first products is making electric irons that were launched a year after. In 1918, the company merged with the heating device sector of   General Electric and launched electric cookers, invented by George Hughes, in 1919. After joining forces with General Electric (GE) in 1920, they entered the UK market in order to market its GE branded goods. The company officially became a part of General Electric when it was purchased in 1927. It also became a part of Associated Electrical Industries (AEI) in 1929. Through the 1920s to 1930s, the company continued to expand their range with them developing products such as their first washing machines and refrigerators and also manufacturing kettles, portable dryers and vacuum cleaners. Continuing with its expansion, Hotpoint was again merged with The General Electric Company (GEC) in 1967, a British company which is in the consumer electronics business, after having joined AEI in 1929. The company continued to be a part of GEC until 1989 after a restructuring was done and GEC rebranded as Marconi plc. The company was taken over by Indesit Company, an Italian company manufacturing domestic appliances and was bought out by Hotpoint in 2001 for £121m. In early 2007, Hotpoint took over Indesit and launched its Ariston brand which saw the start of ‘Hotpoint Ariston’. This made the company’s branding largely known for its European-made products. In 2016, General Electric sold its household appliances division which included Hotpoint to Haier Group Corporation.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Hotpoint User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
