Hewlett-Packard was an American multinational IT company with its headquarters in Palo Alto, California. Over its existence, the company developed and offered various hardware and software-related services and components to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), large corporations, consumers, including customers in the government, education, and health sectors. Bill Hewlett and David Packard founded the company in Palo Alto in 1939 and initially manufactured a line of electronic measurement and test equipment. In 1938, the IT company got its first significant contract to provide measurement and test instruments for Walt Disney’s production of the animated film Fantasia. This enabled Hewlett and Packard to establish the Hewlett-Packard Company officially on July 2, 1939. Hewlett and Packard’s first economically successful product was the HP 200A, a precision audio oscillator with impressive stability engineering that allowed it to sell for USD 89.40 when competitors were selling unstable oscillators for over USD 200. During its existence, the company had various buyouts and mergers, including its merger with Compaq in 2002, its acquisition of Electronic Data System in 2008, the 2010 buyout of Palm, Inc. and 3PAR. On October 6, 2014, HP announced its intention to split into two distinct companies to differentiate its technology services from its personal computer and printer businesses. The split created two publicly-traded companies on November 1, 2015: Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc, and it has such a structure that Hewlett-Packard became HP Inc. The structure also enabled the spin-off of Hewlett Packard Enterprise into a publicly-traded company. HP Inc. remains the legal successor of the old company and retains its stock price history and its longtime stock ticker symbol, HPQ, with Hewlett Packard Enterprise trading under its symbol, HPE.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to HP User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
