While Samsung is famous for its high-quality smartphones and semiconductors, it didn’t start with them. Samsung was founded in 1938 by Lee Byung-Chul as a grocery trading company, and its headquarters is located in South Korea, Samsung Town, Seoul. By 1950, Lee quickly grew the company by expanding into the textile industry. Then, in 1969, Samsung opened several electronics-related divisions and released their first product, a black-and-white television, raising their stand in the electronics market. Between 1970 and 1980, Samsung heavily invested in electronics, creating separate divisions for semiconductors and electronics. Additionally, to grow as a company, Samsung went public on the Korea Stock Exchange in 1975, under code 005930. Then, in 1985, Samsung SDS was established to attend to system development needs and was later used in their telecommunication efforts, launching the company in the telecommunications spotlight. Following the death of Lee Byung-Chul in 1987, the company was split into five independent groups unrelated to Samsung. After the split, Samsung’s leading products became smartphones, TVs, and electronics. Additionally, the company acquired several competitors to improve product quality. In the 2000s, Samsung released its Galaxy smartphones line, quickly becoming one of its flagship products and one of the best-selling smartphones globally. In December 2010, Samsung bought MEDISON Co, a South Korean medical equipment company incorporating their technology into Samsung’s products. Also, in May 2012, the mobile radio service mSpot was purchased, and their technology was used to create the Samsung Music Hub. Later in February 2015, Samsung acquired the mobile payments firm LoopPay, allowing mobile-authenticated payments using Samsung smartphones. Their latest great acquisition took place in March 2017, where they bought Harman International Industries to improve their in-vehicle technologies.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Samsung User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
