Best-known for manufacturing sewing machines, Singer Corporation is an American company based in Tennessee. With its rich history, the company was founded in 1850 by Isaac M. Singer and produced the first straight sewing machine. In 1855, the brand reached its success and won the first prize at the World’s Fair in Paris. In the same year, the company became the largest sewing machine brand worldwide. With its success, the company continued to develop new sewing machines such as the Grasshopper in 1858 known for being lightweight, the New Family in 1865, and the launch of the brand’s red “S” girl symbol in 1870. In 1889, Singer launched the first practical electric sewing machine further boosting the company’s sales. One of its notable machines is the Featherweight 221 which stayed in production for over 30 years and is still considered to be an iconic reflection of the Singer brand. During 1939 to 1945, the company ceased production and development of their sewing machines due to the ongoing war.  Through the 80s, the company launched a new line of sewing machines catered to each and what type of individual needs. In 2001, the brand celebrated it 150th Anniversary and released the most advanced sewing and embroidery machine and highlighted its user-friendly system. Through the 2010s, the brand continued to innovate with each release having made computer-enabled sewing machines such a Futura. In 2017, the company even launched the first sewing assistant app for easy-access sewing tips. Singer is also listed in the New York stock exchange.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language.
