TCL Technology is a Chinese-based electronics company with headquarters in Huizhou. The organization focuses on three major sectors; semiconductor display, semiconductor, and semiconductor photovoltaic. It designs, develops, manufactures, and retails consumer commodities that encompass television sets, air conditioners, refrigerators, mobile phones, DVD players, electric lighting, washing machines, and other small electrical appliances. In 2012, the organization entered a joint venture with a Swedish furniture producer, IKEA, to manufacture consumer electronics behind the Uppleva integrated HDTV and entertainment system products. The company was started as a state-owned enterprise in 1981 to manufacture audio cassettes. In 2003, TCL and Thomson SA, a company based in France, unveiled a joint venture to manufacture televisions that were marketed under the brand name TCL in Asia and Thomson and RCA brands in Europe and North America. This undertaking proved successful, causing the company to expand its portfolio in 2004 by announcing a partnership with Alcatel to create mobile phones. A year later, the company established that its Hong Kong-listed unit would take over Alcatel’s 45% share in the mobile phones joint venture and ceased using Alcatel’s brand by switching to the TCL brand. In 2021, the organization unveiled the acquisition of Suzhou CSOT to increase its competitive edge in the semiconductor industry and optimize its product quality as well as expand the streamlined process. Furthermore, the move aimed to increase quality, improve supply chain and management, increase digitalization, increase profitability, and raise shareholders’ returns. The company is publicly listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange with the trading symbol TCLHF.
