EliteGroup Computer Systems Co., Ltd. or ECS is a Chinese computer hardware electronics company based in Taipei City, Taiwan, with its main products being motherboards and graphics cards. It’s also the fifth-largest motherboard manufacturer worldwide. ECS quickly expanded from its headquarters in Taiwan to North America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim in just three years after its establishment in 1987. In 1992, ECS released a 64-bit motherboard, which holds a more powerful processor than the 32-bit motherboard. In the same year, it implemented the Green PC standards into its products, making it a green-thinking company. ECS produced motherboards for original equipment manufacturers. Many go to systems assembled and sold by brand-name companies like Lenovo, HP, and Zoostorm. The company became the first Taiwanese motherboard maker to release a dual-processor Intel Pentium motherboard in 1996. It also became the first brand to deliver a Socket 7 motherboard with a 100MHz system bus two years later. These developments put ECS at a different level compared to its local competitors and gave it a sharp edge in the world market. Its DeskNote PC debuted in 2001, the first affordable portable computer that boosted home and office computer use. In 2005, ECS merged with Hsing Tech Enterprise Co., Ltd., better known as PCChips, another major manufacturer of low-cost motherboards. A year later, ECS purchased the laptop manufacturing company Uniwill. This acquisition gave ECS the fundamentals it needed to design and manufacture laptops, desktop replacement computers, and multimedia products. By 2009, it increased its IoV Solution & Voice Activated Devices production lines to answer consumer demand. ECS was the first computer motherboard maker that became a public company in Taiwan in 1994. The same year, ECS entered the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) with the ticker symbol 2331.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to ECS User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
