Konica Minolta is a Japanese multinational tech company that focuses on manufacturing business and industrial imaging products and optical devices. Its list of products includes laser printers, copiers, multi-functional peripherals (MFPs), digital print systems for production printing, lenses, LCD film, and medical and graphic imaging products. Two separate imaging companies, Konica and Minolta, came before Konica Minolta. Konica commenced in 1873 with a pharmacist named Rokusaburo Sugiura. The company’s key product was the Cherry Portable Camera, which offered the average person access to photography. It was also called Konishi Honten before it changed to Konica in 1948. It also manufactured films, cameras, camera accessories, laser printers, fax machines, photocopiers, and other photo-processing equipment. Meanwhile, Minolta is younger than Konica and was established in 1928 as Nichi-Doku Shashinki Shoten or “Japanese-German Photo Company” by Kazuo Tashima. It was also a local camera manufacturer. Then, the name change happened in 1962. In 2003, Konica and Minolta merged to create Konica Minolta Holdings, Inc. The two firms already shared trust, even before the merger. Four years after the management integration, the company decided to leave the photography business due to high financial losses. Instead, it focused on manufacturing Konica Minolta MFPs, bizhub electronics, and the AeroDR. A key innovation by the company came out in 2011 – the world’s first Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) lighting panels that used only phosphorescent materials. As the company grew, it acquired other companies to aid its development. One noteworthy acquisition was FedEx Kinko’s Japan, the largest print shop in the country. The 2012 acquisition boosted Konica Minolta’s operations and industry influence even further. Konica Minolta uses the ticker number 4902 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TYO) and has been trading on it since 2000.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Konica Minolta User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
