Based in Shenzhen China, TP-Link is a manufacturer of Wi-Fi and networking products in more than 170 countries. Their product line ranges from wireless routers, range extenders, wifi-plugs and more under their Tapo and Deco brand. Founded by brothers Zhao Jianjun and Zhao Jiaxing in 1996, the company started out with the aim of producing a network card they had developed. The company set up its own factory and established five offices in China, in 1997. TP-Link then launched a series of Ethernet switches in 1998 which boosted the company’s annual revenue. Alongside this, they expanded more by increasing their offices, had over 600 distributors in China and they also started to form better marketing strategies and network. In the early 2000s, they were awarded the ISO 9001 certificate; a fiber transceiver was also launched which had the ability to manage switches and wireless LAN in 2001. With their ISO certifications, TP-Link continued to be acknowledged for their contributions as a manufacturer of networking products. The company is also known for manufacturing their own products in-house. Better marketing and continuously improving their technology partnerships with known chipset suppliers in the world, such as collaborations with the likes of Intel, TI, Broadcom, Marvell, Atheros, Realtek – the company was committed in improving the wireless and home networking experience. Through 2003 to 2004, they developed and launched a new series of routers, wireless products with super GTM and Xtended Range which saw the company boosting their market shares in China by 50% won them many awards for excellence. TP-Link started to expand internationally in 2005, and in 2008 – TP-Link USA was established. The company also manufactured the OnHub router for Google in 2016.
