Viewsonic is a visual electronics company based in California. It deals in hardware such as projectors, smart whiteboards, and liquid crystal displays. Previously known as Keypoint Technology Corporation, John Chu founded the company in 1987. The business started by producing a line of color computer monitors that it branded as Viewsonic in 1990. The monitors were a success and the company shortly renamed itself after the brand. Shortly after launching KeyPoint, the company realized that its major rival was NEC, a Japanese display manufacturer that was already successful with its MultiSync monitor. Facing demand from his customers, Chu began importing monitors from his native country Taiwan. Following the wide acceptance of the imported monitors, Viewsonic geared efforts towards manufacturing. In 1999, the company introduced the VP181, which allowed users to connect a computer, VCR, video camera, and other devices. It was an instant success. In the mid-’90s, Viewsonic rose to the ranks of competitor brands like Sony and Panasonic. By the start of 2000, the American manufacturer was the largest manufacturer of electronic display systems. In the same year, ViewSonic acquired the Nokia Display Products’ branded business. In 2017, Viewsonic released an HDTV set and projectors that could be directly connected to an iPod. That same year led Viewsonic into the interactive whiteboard market with the launch of ViewBoard flat panels and myViewBoard software. By 2019, more than 6000 elementary and junior high schools in America were using the view board. In 2019, ViewSonic became a Google for Education partner, and in 2020, it joined the list of Microsoft Education partners. ViewSonic created a 3500 lumen 4K Ultra HD home projector, the PX747-4K, the first of its kind, and released it in 2021.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder the company has so many products out there, from new to used. Finding the right documentation can be difficult, especially in the English language. This is the reason why we opened up a section dedicated to Viewsonic User Manuals, where you can view or download each PDF.
